KSF convoy passed through North Mitrovica; Elshani: They took the wrong route

A convoy consisting of two trucks and four Hummers with members of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) drove through North Mitrovica this morning.

Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the North Region, Veton Elshani, confirmed to Kosovo Online that the KSF convoy had passed through North Mitrovica.

“The drivers made a mistake, by accident, the convoy crossed the eastern bridge, passed through the Bosniak neighborhood, and by the Technical School, and reached the former NIS gas station, where police officers approached them. They were told they had taken the wrong route. The Kosovo Police then escorted the convoy toward the bridge near Dudin Krs, where they returned to South Mitrovica,” Elshani said.

According to the 2013 agreement, KSF members are not allowed to enter the north without the approval of the KFOR commander. In January this year, the Government of Kosovo sent a letter to then-KFOR Commander General Enrico Barduani, stating that the KSF would not be deployed in the north without prior authorization from NATO and its mission.
