Leposavic decides to withdraw from the Association of Kosovo Municipalities
The Municipal Assembly of Leposavic adopted a decision at today’s session to withdraw the local self-government from the Association of Kosovo Municipalities, TV Most reports.
The decision was adopted with 15 votes in favor, with no votes against and no abstentions.
The explanation of the decision states that the municipality’s membership in the Association currently does not correspond to Leposavic’s strategic, financial, and development priorities.
“The Municipal Assembly of Leposavic has adopted a decision on the withdrawal of the Municipality of Leposavic from the Association of Kosovo Municipalities,” announced at the session the President of the Municipal Assembly of Leposavic, Marko Rakic.
Rakic also stated that, in accordance with the decisions of the local parliament, the Association in Pristina would be notified of the withdrawal in writing.
“On the day this decision enters into force, all rights and obligations of the Municipality of Leposavic arising from membership in the Association of Kosovo Municipalities shall cease, except for obligations that arose prior to the date of withdrawal,” Rakic explained.
In addition to adopting this decision, today’s session verified the mandates of new councilors, who took their oaths of office.
The councilors also considered a draft decision to initiate the procedure for concluding an inter-municipal cooperation agreement between Leposavic and Gracanica, as well as the review and adoption of the annual work plan of the Municipal Assembly of Leposavic.
The President of the Assembly, Milan Rakic, also presented councilors with a report on the state of affairs upon the assumption of office by the Mayor of Leposavic, Zoran Todic.
Today, the Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica also adopted a decision to withdraw from the Association of Kosovo Municipalities and, in addition, approved a decision annulling previously adopted decisions on the naming of streets.
