Lucic: Signal for users in northern Kosovo today, criminal complaint against Hetemi

Vladimir Lucic, the CEO of "Telekom Serbia," stated that today the company would connect two base stations in northern Kosovo through alternative means to restore signal for MTS phone users and highlighted that a criminal complaint had been filed against the Mayor of Leposavic, Lulzim Hetemi, for gross violation of official position.

Lucic said for RTS that around 5,000 users would regain mobile phone signal today after an incident and intentional disruption of the MTS signal in Leposavic yesterday.

"We will connect these two base stations located in the north by alternative means today and restore mobile phone signal from Leposavic to the administrative border," Lucic said.

He reminds that the malfunction occurred intentionally, describing it as a significant incident due to the deliberate disruption of the MTS signal.

"The other operator, 'Vala,' whose current representatives in the municipality are granting more permits to cover the north, not only installed its repeater on the roof of the Leposavic municipality building but also disrupted our signal. The mayor continued to create incidents – he did not allow our workers, saying he could only remove our equipment and give it to us," Lucic said.

He emphasizes that they filed a criminal complaint because they believe Hetemi grossly abused his official position and destroyed private property.

According to Lucic, he did it only to interrupt the signal for Serbs because they are Serbs, and because MTS is a Serbian company.

The international community has been informed, Lucic says, adding that they hope this behavior will be sanctioned in the same way as they arrested Serbs for alleged offenses.

"People will receive the signal today, but we will not allow this incident to be overlooked. We will work to ensure that the individual who caused people to be without signal for two days is sanctioned for it," Lucic pointed out.
