Miftaraj on Osmani’s move: A mistake that seriously undermines the independence of the Constitutional Court

Director of the Kosovo Law Institute, Ehat Miftaraj, stated that security is not protected through press conferences, reacting to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani’s withdrawal of her request to the Constitutional Court regarding the constitution of the Kosovo parliament, following the appointment of Judge Radomir Laban as the reporting judge in the case.

“The President of the Republic should not attack the Constitutional Court in this manner. Regarding Judge Laban, the Kosovo Law Institute publicly opposed his appointment,” Miftaraj wrote on Facebook.

He emphasized that security is maintained by the competent authorities.

“It is in no way achieved through the politicization of the Constitutional Court and such attacks from the Presidency. This is a mistake and the creation of a new culture that seriously undermines the independence and integrity of the Constitutional Court,” Miftaraj concluded.
