Miftaraj: Self-Determination list filled with people accused of corruption
The Executive Director of the Kosovo Law Institute, Ehat Miftaraj, pointed out that the list of parliamentary candidates of the Self-Determination Movement is filled with individuals who have been convicted of various criminal offenses and accused of corruption.
Miftaraj emphasized that the party is showing no willingness to implement asset verification or adopt the Law on the Bureau for the Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Assets.
“Now imagine what kind of willingness this party has to carry out verification or adopt the Law on the Bureau for the Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Assets. To confiscate the property they have stolen during the nearly seven years they have governed the country,” Miftaraj wrote in a Facebook post.
He assessed that the opposition’s focus during the election campaign should be precisely the law on that bureau.
According to him, it is enough to look at the assets of MPs, ministers, and advisers from the Self-Determination Movement to understand the level of corruption involved.
Miftaraj also pointed out that many MPs from the Self-Determination Movement in 2020 had no assets to declare, while now more than 70 percent of them own real estate, cars, and lead luxurious lifestyles.
“A state cannot be built with thieves,” he concluded at the end.
