Muhaxhiri: The draft statute of the CSM must be the result of negotiations, and Kurti knows the Government's proposal will not be accepted
Political analyst Artan Muhaxhiri told Kosovo Online that it is very strange that Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla announced the submission of a draft statute for the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM) based on the Friedrich Ebert Foundation proposal to the Constitutional Court.
He noted that a draft supported by the EU was created afterward. Muhaxhiri believes this move will create a rift between the Kosovo government and its allies. He emphasized that the CSM statute must be negotiated and coordinated with all parties involved to ensure its acceptance and success.
He also added that he believes Prime Minister Albin Kurti knows this draft will not be accepted.
"I think this will create a rift between the Kosovo government and its allies, especially France and Germany, which have strongly supported Kosovo's bid for Council of Europe membership. Prime Minister Kurti needs to become much more pragmatic and accept political reality because, in this way, he will not find any suitable solution for the Community or the dialogue. Without that, we will only have a negative status quo, which will be bad for Kosovo's political future and its European integration," Muhaxhiri said.
