Muhaxhiri: There is no negotiation on the demands of the EU and the US for the normalization of the situation in the north
Sociologist and political analyst from Pristina, Artan Muhaxhiri, tells Kosovo Online that the European demands to calm the situation in the north, which are fully supported by the US, cannot be negotiated, because they reflect the only feasible option that can realistically lead to the normalization of the situation.
Muhaxhiri states that the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue is an extremely important geostrategic and geopolitical project and that anyone who blocks major investments and pragmatic long-term plans of the international community will face enormous opposition and reactions from key actors.
"Any party that voluntarily turns into a 'black sheep' and is identified as a blocker and obstructionist will face fundamental international consequences, immediate suspension from all plans for future important cooperation leading to European integration and punishment by being bypassed by major initiatives, all until there is a change in approach," Muhaxhiri says.
He thus answered the question of what consequences could follow if the three conditions put forward by the European head of diplomacy, Josep Borrell, for calming the situation in the north - new elections, the participation of Serbs in them, and the formation of the CSM - were not met, which were repeated by the representatives of the US and the EU, Gabriel Escobar and Miroslav Lajcak during their visit to Pristina.
"Political losses will be huge and multi-layered for everyone, but mostly for Kosovo and Serbia, if the programmed flow of progress in the dialogue and the achievement of a historic final agreement is stopped," Muhaxhiri says.
