We expect timely consultations on any action by the Kosovo Security Forces or Kosovo Police that could affect regional security, a NATO official said in response to Kosovo Online's question about whether the Kosovo Police must inform KFOR of their actions.

According to the written response to our portal, NATO's stance is "clear and consistent."

"The Kosovo Police do not have to inform the KFOR commander about all their movements across Kosovo. But as NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg clearly stated during his visit to Kosovo last November: 'Stability in the region depends on all sides choosing diplomacy over violence and respecting existing obligations,'" they recall in the response.

It emphasizes that "any deployment of the Kosovo Security Forces in northern Kosovo requires KFOR's consent."

"We expect timely consultations on any action by the Kosovo Security Forces or Kosovo Police that could affect regional security," the response states.
