Office for Kosovo and Metohija: New arrests are a part of the threat that the Serbs will suffer and pay

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that today's arrest of two Serbs in the north of Kosovo was a continuation of causing tensions and a new intimidation of the Serbs.

"In order to cause new tensions and crises on the ground, two Serbs were arrested this morning in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, apparently as a part of the threats of the anti-Serb regime from Pristina that the Serbs will suffer and pay. It is clear that this is a new intimidation and causing unrest among the Serbs who do not want to leave their centuries-old hearths," the Office's announcement states.

As it was added, the two arrested had been taken in an unknown direction, south of the Ibar, and the Office had immediately provided lawyers to the arrested who were trying to determine where they were, because even the families did not have detailed information about their loved ones.

"First, in Kosovska Mitrovica, Ilija Elezovic, a good host and father who is in a serious state of health, was arrested, and then in Zvecan, Dragan Milovic, a former policeman, who were both displaced due to the conflict and found their peace in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, only to be suddenly arrested today. All this speaks in favor of the fact that the moment of their arrest and the new intimidation and persecution of the Serbs was not chosen by chance on the very day when the General Assembly of the United Nations is being held, where President Aleksandar Vucic will defend the interests of Serbia and present to the entire international community the importance of respecting international law and norms, but also the endangered rights of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija," the Office for Kosovo and Metohija states.

As they add, the Office will inform international representatives and missions operating in Kosovo about the series of politically motivated arrests.

"Because everything that Pristina does every day is aimed at causing new tensions and problems on the ground, which is why it does not refrain from numerous escalating moves that directly threaten to collapse the peace in these areas," the Office points out.
