The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that the Government of Serbia, at the initiative of the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, today adopted a conclusion approving a measure to pay one-time financial assistance in the amount of 300,000 dinars to persons who are in prisons and pre-trial detention in Kosovo and against whom, as stated, fabricated criminal proceedings are being conducted for allegedly committed crimes during the armed conflicts of 1998–1999 against Albanians in Kosovo, as well as in other fabricated criminal proceedings initiated for the purpose of political persecution.
This measure will cover persons who, according to the records of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, are in prisons and pre-trial detention on March 17 of this year.
“The payment of this financial assistance to the families of unjustly detained Serbs will be carried out as soon as possible,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said in the statement.
It is also recalled that this is the second consecutive year that this support measure, in the same amount, is being implemented at the initiative of President Vucic, and the plan is for it to become a regular annual activity.
