The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, met today with the Ambassador of France to the Republic of Serbia, Pierre Cochard, and informed him about the unacceptable, discriminatory, and unilateral actions that the regime of Albin Kurti was implementing day by day against the Serbian people in the province, with the sole aim of ethnic cleansing, as stated in the statement of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

Petkovic assessed that the latest decision of the Pristina regime to cease financial transactions with central Serbia and abolish the dinar as a means of payment in Kosovo and Metohija from February 1 would seriously jeopardize the physical survival of Serbs in our southern province.

"The Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija have been exposed to various forms of institutional violence by Pristina, but interrupting financial flows with central Serbia would make their life in Kosovo and Metohija impossible, questioning the functioning of our hospitals, kindergartens, schools... It is a brutal blow to the dialogue and yet another undermining of the process of forming the Community of Serb Municipalities by Pristina, considering that financial support to the Serbs is envisaged by signed agreements on the competencies of the Community of Serb Municipalities," the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija emphasized.

Petkovic also briefed the interlocutor on the collected signatures for petitions "for the removal of false and illegitimate mayors and councilors in four municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija."

"I expect that the false mayors and councilors will resign as soon as possible, given that the Serbs have once again shown that they do not want them in those positions. More signatures have been collected than needed, more than 20% of the total number of registered voters, which unequivocally demonstrates the will of the Serbian people," Petkovic stressed.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija concluded that despite the terror, violence, and constant crises caused by Kurti's regime, Belgrade remained committed to the dialogue as the only path to sustainable peace and normalization of relations.
