The Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated that two unidentified individuals entered the fenced area around the memorial in Gorazdevac last night, dedicated to locals who perished during the NATO aggression and the children killed in the terrorist attack on the Bistrica River in 2003, and that they removed the Serbian flag.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija strongly condemns the desecration of the memorial in Gorazdevac, stating that this is yet another attempt to intimidate Serbs in that enclave.

The statement notes that the political agenda of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s regime “encourages extremists to engage in anti-Serb actions,” which, as stated, further deteriorates the position of Serbs who have been living south of the Ibar River for decades under very challenging conditions.

“The fact that just over a month ago we witnessed the rampage of Albanian extremists in Gracanica confirms that these are not isolated incidents but rather an organized and politically orchestrated campaign of intimidation,” the statement said.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija reminds that they have repeatedly called on the international presence in Kosovo to pay greater attention to creating a safer environment in Serbian villages south of the Ibar, particularly during pre-election periods when political tensions are at their peak.

“We demand that in an atmosphere where Kurti’s police, during Christmas in Kosovo and Metohija, demonstrate force by confiscating Serbian flags, the international community finally take action to find those responsible for this shameful and cowardly provocation in Gorazdevac. We also once again draw the international community’s attention to the fact that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are evidently the most endangered community in Europe and that ethnically motivated incidents against them have reached epidemic proportions,” the statement from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija concluded.
