The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that today's arrest of former Serbian policeman Miljan J. in Jarinje was a continuation of the pressure and persecution of the Serbs in Kosovo, especially the policemen who had taken off their Kosovo Police uniform last November.

It is added that Miljan J. was arrested in front of his wife and two minor children who suffered enormous stress due to his sudden arrest.

Immediately after finding out about Miljan's arrest, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija hired a lawyer to defend him and help him in this case, and representatives of the Office contacted his family, in order to provide them with much-needed support and offer all help.

"One of the main questions that are being asked is how Miljan J. moved freely through administrative crossings and was in the service of the Kosovo Police, and now some secret warrants are revealed to him overnight and he is charged with crimes that are many years old? That speaks volumes about the nature of this staged and political arrest and the intentions of Pristina to deal with the Serbs whom it cannot force to return to the Kosovo Police," the statement of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija emphasizes.
