Orlic with the Ambassador of Japan: An extremely difficult and dangerous situation for the Serbs in Kosovo

The President of the Serbian Parliament, Vladimir Orlic, met today with the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan in Belgrade, Akira Imamura, and informed him about the extremely difficult and dangerous situation in Kosovo, which, he pointed out, had been caused by Pristina, which was confirmed and publicly condemned by numerous international officials.

As stated in the press release of the parliament, Orlic, wished Imamura a warm welcome, success in performing his new duty, and a pleasant stay in our country, and reminded of the traditionally friendly and long relations between Serbia and Japan and expressed the readiness of the Serbian Parliament to participate in their further strengthening.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the fact that Japanese investors had recognized the exceptional environment for doing business in Serbia, and were increasingly present on our market. In this regard, Ambassador Imamura welcomed the activities of the National Assembly, which further improved the conditions for investing in Serbia and sent a positive and strong signal for new joint projects and future Japanese investments.

The Ambassador said that, during his diplomatic mandate, he would make a personal contribution to the improvement of joint work within the initiative for cooperation with the Western Balkans, which had been launched by former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during his visit to Serbia in 2018.

"Serbia remains committed to the principles of international law, the binding Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council, committed to preserving peace and stability for all," Orlic said during the meeting.

He informed the Ambassador about the extremely difficult and dangerous situation in Kosovo and Metohija, which had been caused by Pristina, which was confirmed and publicly condemned by numerous international officials. He especially expressed gratitude for the fact that Japan is one of the most important donors to our country.

Imamura thanked Orlic for the opportunity to talk, saying that during his service in Belgrade, he would support any initiative for even more intense exchanges of visits between parliamentarians, which would strengthen the overall bilateral relations and cooperation between Serbia and Japan.
