OSCE on KP action in Leposavic and Strpce: Sensitive issues like these should be resolved through Dialogue

Following the events of April 23, when the Kosovo Police closed the offices of the New Public Utility Company in Strpce, and subsequently the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (PIO Fund) and the National Employment Service in Leposavic, the OSCE Mission also issued a statement, noting that these actions negatively impacted the functioning of the Center for Social Work.
In a post on the “X” platform, they warned that disrupting access to basic services without providing sustainable alternatives disproportionately affects non-majority communities and may further exacerbate existing tensions. The organization called for such issues to be resolved through dialogue facilitated by the European Union.
"The Mission notes the recent closure of public utility facilities operated by Belgrade, which occurred on April 23 in Strpce and Leposavic, and which also affected the operations of the Center for Social Work. Disrupting access to basic services without sustainable alternatives disproportionately impacts non-majority communities and risks aggravating existing tensions. Sensitive issues such as these should be addressed through dialogue facilitated by the EU, which remains the most effective path toward sustainable and inclusive solutions," the statement read.
