Pantic Pilja: In PACE, it was shown that international law means nothing, they trampled on everything they advocate for

The head of the Serbian delegation in the Council of Europe, Biljana Pantic Pilja, stated that the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to accept the report on the recommendation for Kosovo's membership in the organization is a shameful and gross violation of international law.

"The position, which I presented also at the session, is that this is a shameful, gross violation of international law. It's disgraceful that no one talks about the exodus of the Serbian people from Kosovo and Metohija. They forget about the CSM, that it should be the first condition. In the discussion, it was seen that they have their agenda which they decided to fulfill, and they really don't care about human rights and the rule of law. All that matters to them is to give a positive opinion," Pantic Pilja told for Kosovo online after the session.

She emphasized that the diplomatic battle in the Council of Europe continues and that she believes that, despite the difficult times in which Serbia is being attacked from all sides, something can be done so that "this shameful opinion" does not make it onto the agenda of the Committee of Ministers of the CoE.

"I believe that the national leadership will give it their all. The decision of the Parliamentary Assembly was expected and our diplomatic battle continues," Pantic Pilja conveyed.

She said she wasn't particularly disappointed because she expected to hear the expressed opinions and this kind of discussion.

"It's very hard to listen to this when you see that the fake state of Kosovo is getting such support, that there's talk of a full festival of human rights in Kosovo and Metohija... But, it's important to tell the truth, to let our voice be heard that it's not as they say. And to hope that the truth will come to light," added Pantic Pilja.

Clearly, she says, the majority had their agenda, and they are not interested in the CSM or the persecution of the Serbian people.

"In the discussion in the assembly, it was only heard that in Kosovo there is a real festival of democracy and human rights. It almost makes you want to move there...", she added ironically.

Asked if there is any sense in being a member of such an institution under these circumstances, Pantic Pilja replied that they will see what the position of Serbia will be.

"I reiterated what President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said - that we will consider whether we should remain in an institution where international law is most blatantly violated. They showed today that international law means nothing to them, they have trampled on everything they advocate for," concluded Pantic Pilja.
