Dacic: A day of shame in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe
The First Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, stated today that it is a "day of shame" in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, as it is the first time in history that membership has been recommended for what he referred to as "something that is not a state."
"Today is a day of shame in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. For the first time in history, membership has been recommended for something that is not a state and which also does not meet the basic conditions in the field of human rights and freedoms," Dacic emphasized in a written statement.
He noted that Pristina, on the contrary, has been refusing for 11 years to form the Community of Serb Municipalities, which is its international obligation, and is implementing a policy of terror against the Serbian people and ethnic cleansing.
Dacic stated that this decision, imposed by the force of international powers, has undermined the foundations of the Council of Europe and the international legal order.
"What kind of principle of protecting territorial integrity will they talk about further when they have violated the territorial integrity of Serbia?" asked the head of Serbian diplomacy.
He also stated that Serbia will continue to fight with all its might to prevent this decision from being adopted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on May 16.
"We will also see how much the word of the international community, which they gave to President Aleksandar Vucic that Kosovo will not be admitted to the Council of Europe until it forms the Community of Serb Municipalities, is worth. Or will it again be a lie," Minister Dacic concluded.
