Participants at the meeting in North Mitrovica: We hope for change, the current situation is unbearable

Participants at the meeting in North Mitrovica expressed hope that there would be some changes in the near future to ease the living conditions for Serbs in Kosovo, and they emphasized that the current situation was unbearable and unacceptable.

One of them highlights the importance of the international community.

"It all depends on the international community, how they will hear us and accept it. It's all up to them, not up to us. We hope that things will get better and that they will turn to the Serbian people. We hope that something will be done for the Serbian people after this meeting; otherwise, it's unbearable and unacceptable," he told Kosovo Online.

Also, a participant in the meeting believes that Serbs should have declared self-occupation, and when asked whether the international community would do something to bring about change after what had been said at today's meeting, he says, "If they won't, then we will."

Among those who believe it's good that this meeting was organized is a former Trepca worker who told Kosovo Online that it wasn't good that they had been silent for days and quietly observed what was happening.

"The voice of our people needs to be raised, and it should be heard in the world about how we Serbs live extremely difficult lives in Kosovo and Metohija. We want peace here and for everyone else living in Kosovo and Metohija to return to how it was before, when I lived on the earned dinar. The dinar is the means of payment here, and it should remain, and we want to stay here because this is our land. Kosovo and Metohija is my land; I was born here, as were my grandfather, great-grandfather, and others. I have my property, and I will never leave here, nobody can drive me away," he stated firmly.
