Petkovic: Closing of the Center for Social Work in Leposavic is continuation of Kurti's anti-Serb campaign

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said that the Kosovo Prime Minister, by deciding to close the Center for Social Work in Leposavic, is pursuing an anti-Serb policy at the expense of the most vulnerable Serbs in Kosovo.

Petkovic said that, in this way, Kurti wants to leave over 1,500 recipients of various forms of social assistance out on the street without any income or help, which is of vital importance to them.

"After closing the Provisional Authorities, abolishing the dinar, closing the Post Office and the Postal Savings Bank, Kurti has now targeted the most vulnerable – the people who cannot survive without regular monthly social assistance, for whom the social aid from the state of Serbia is the only source of income – people with disabilities, children without parental care, the sick, the weak, and the elderly," Petkovic said.

He added that this is the true face of Albin Kurti's regime – naked hatred and the destruction of everything Serbian in Kosovo, and if he proceeds with this plan, it will lead to a new wave of Serb emigration from these areas, especially from the municipality of Leposavic.

"That is why he has no business being in Leposavic today, and he is announcing some kind of maternity wards, but wherever he goes, he only brings misery to the Serbian people. Serbs have their own maternity wards and their own hospitals," he added.

Petkovic emphasized that he had informed the EU Envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, the international community, and EU member states about Kurti’s intentions.

"All over the world, social welfare recipients are a protected category of the population and enjoy special rights, but the vulnerable Serbs in Kosovo have no rights, and Kurti, in full view of the international community, wants to strip them of those rights and erase them," Petkovic concluded.
