The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said today that it was high time that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti stopped deceiving the public and faced the truth and facts that prove that there were no set and predetermined deadlines for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina.

"The only stopwatch that is ticking is the one for the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, and the other deadlines exist only in Kurti's head," said Petkovic, reacting to Kurti's statement to the Montenegrin media that there was a deadline for "mutual recognition to be implemented sometime in the spring of next year."

According to Petkovic, it is becoming ridiculous and embarrassing how Kurti is denied by international officials daily, and the last in line is the EU spokesman who unequivocally said that no artificial deadlines existed in reality.

"The only timer that is ticking is the one for the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, and Pristina has been late with that for 10 years, and that's why Kurti would be better off focusing on the fulfillment of that obligation and implementing what was signed in Brussels," Petkovic announced.

As he said, the other deadlines existed only in Kurti's head, "along with wishful thinking that Belgrade will recognize a part of its territory, which, contrary to international law, presented itself as a so-called state".

"Let Kurti remember well that anyone who tried to attack the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Serbian religious people, or President Aleksandar Vucic did so in vain and unsuccessfully. Even those in the Serbian opposition, whom he praises and whose help he wholeheartedly expects, cannot help him in this fruitless endeavor." Petkovic adds.
