Petkovic: We preserved peace and security and our license plates
The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija and Belgrade's chief negotiator, Petar Petkovic, said this evening, after reaching an agreement in Brussels, that the reached agreement preserved peace and protected the Serbian people in the north of Kosovo and Metohija.
"With this agreement from 8 a.m. tomorrow, there are no fines of 150 euros planned by Kurti, nor punitive policies against Serbs who drive cars with KM plates, nor punitive policies in all other phases. With this agreement, we have preserved the peace and managed to protect our people in the north of Kosovo and Metohija," said Petkovic, the correspondent of Kosovo Online reported from Brussels.
According to him, the license plates issued by Serbia remain in force, that is, they will be in use as before.
"This means that all car owners will be able to register license plates normally. We will only stop the issuance of new KM plates until we find a final solution to the issue of license plates, but anyway, for the last three years, those KM plates have not been issued. Tonight Kurti accepted everything he refused in the previous days and that is important. We managed to preserve the peace, the dialogue and talks continue because we need to strive for the normalization of relations between Serbs and Albanians first of all in the field. I am telling all the Serbs in Kosovo that they can sleep peacefully, we saved our KM plates," Petkovic said.
