Petkovic: I demanded an immediate end to Kurti’s persecution of Serb List representatives

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that during his meeting in Brussels with Peter Sorensen, the EU Special Envoy for the Belgrade–Pristina dialogue, he specifically demanded an immediate end to the persecution and pressure on the political representatives of the Serbian people, namely the Serb List.

“The President of the Serb List, Mr. Elek, received a summons from the so-called Kosovo Prosecutor’s Office to appear on June 10, most likely in connection with those peaceful protests and barricades. They’re referring to some article related to alleged terrorism. The same summons was received by Igor Simic and many other prominent Serbs. I pointed out that this is a direct political persecution of Serb representatives in Kosovo and Metohija by Albin Kurti. As we’ve seen, Kurti has made multiple attempts to eliminate the Serb List, from the elections to various other developments,” said Petkovic after today’s meeting with Sorensen in Brussels.

“This kind of terror must stop. Nowhere else in Europe is there such a crackdown on political opponents like the one Kurti is carrying out. Why? Because the Serb List holds the overwhelming trust of the Serbian people. That’s what bothers Kurti, and that’s why he is targeting Serb List representatives in this way,” Petkovic added.
