Petkovic: It is clear who should write the CSM Statute, Kurti deceives the public and continues to violate agreements from Brussels

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, reacted to the statement about the draft of the CSM Statute made by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti at the Kosovo Government session, pointing out that Kurti persistently tried to blame Belgrade for the failures in the dialogue, using a reversal of roles and deceiving the public to hide the fact that Pristina was violating all possible agreements reached in Brussels and undermining every attempt at normalization of relations with Serbia.

Petkovic emphasized that the international community was aware that the Kosovo Prime Minister, even after 11 years, refused to form the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.

"Albin Kurti has once again unsuccessfully tried to shift the blame for the failure of the dialogue onto Belgrade, using a shameless reversal of roles and deceiving the public because he is the one who is violating all possible agreements reached in Brussels and undermining every attempt at normalization of relations with Belgrade. The entire international community is well aware that he is the one who, even after 11 years, refuses to form the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities and the only one who hides from the dialogue because he knows he has to fulfill the obligations he has undertaken. The agreements clearly state who writes the CSM Statute and how it should look, and Kurti can write his New Year's wish list to someone else, as he apparently still believes in fairy tales", Petkovic stated.

He noted that Kurti must face reality – that the CSM should have clearly defined powers prescribed in the 2015 Agreement on General Principles, as well as the unequivocal message from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who clearly stated to representatives of the international community and the entire public what Serbia's red lines are and that there is no recognition of Kosovo, nor membership in the United Nations or UN agencies and organizations.

Therefore, he advises Kurti to "stop believing in the Brothers Grimm".

"It is clear to us that Kurti is nervous because Vucic and the Serbian Progressive Party convincingly won the elections because he is the biggest obstacle to his anti-Serbian policy and the project of the so-called independent Kosovo. That is why Kurti, from Pristina, sends support to Djilas's destructive opposition in Belgrade. One thing is certain, as Kurti wants his Gauleiters to be at the head of Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo with 3.5% support and forcibly and unlawfully hold their positions, so do Djilas's people who lost the elections want to seize power and positions even though the people do not want them. But let both be convinced – as long as President Vucic is there, only results matter", Petkovic concluded.
