Petkovic: Kosovo remains provisional and politically does not belong anywhere

"Today, the inhabitants of Kosovo and Metohija of Albanian nationality are pompously marking 15 years since the unilateral Declaration of Independence, which was done contrary to international law and the principles of the inviolability of the borders of sovereign states, on which the stability of the modern world rests. Despite the announced ceremonial meetings and parades in Pristina, the fact cannot be denied that in the international legal sense, the self-proclaimed "Kosovo" has remained provisional and politically does not belong anywhere, something that is condemned to exist in the space between desires and reality," Petkovic emphasized in the announcement.

The reality, Petkovic underlines, is that self-proclaimed Kosovo, despite the support of a significant number of powerful and influential countries, has not and cannot become a state, because a significantly larger part of the international community is aware that allowing such a precedent would have catastrophic consequences for stability in the world.

"Against 84 countries that recognize the unilaterally declared independence, today there are 106 countries that stand firmly on the side of Serbia and international law. The fact that 27 countries withdrew their recognition is the result of the policy of Belgrade and President Aleksandar Vucic, who with a determined and wise policy represents a solid barrier to the legalization of the so-called independence of Kosovo, in contrast to those who, until 2012, achieved more than 100 recognitions and various premeditated moves. or without, strengthened the positions of Pristina. In the meantime, the "youngest European democracy", as self-proclaimed Kosovo is called by those who believe in their own lies, was left by tens of thousands of people; young people have been left without any perspective or chance to get a job, the legal and social system is in chaos, and that is why today's the commemoration is a celebration of destruction, not success," he added.
