Petkovic: Kurti has shown that he is not interested in the lives of Serbs; no one will be left without monthly income

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija in the Serbian Government, Petar Petkovic, stated that none of the 1,100 employees who were removed from their workplaces during yesterday’s actions by the Kosovo Police in Serbian institutions south of the Ibar River will be left without salaries or other benefits.
As he emphasized, the actions demonstrated the need for Serbian unity, as Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has shown he is not concerned with the lives of Serbs, but instead, his sole policy appears to be the expulsion of the Serbian people and the creation of an ethnically cleansed area.
"By doing this, Kurti is clearly demonstrating that he has no interest in the lives of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. His policy is one of expelling the Serbian people and creating an ethnically cleansed space," Petkovic said.
He pointed out that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had issued a reassuring message to Serbs in Kosovo, assuring them that all those denied the right to work would continue to receive salaries and other benefits.
"As long as President Aleksandar Vucic leads Serbia, Belgrade will never abandon its people in Kosovo and Metohija. We will fight for them, for their prosperity, for peace, and for their future," Petkovic said.
Petkovic said that he had to leave the negotiations in Brussels yesterday.
"There were simply no conditions to continue the discussions. I was not surprised, but we had to say, 'Enough is enough.' This is about trampling on everything that was agreed upon in Brussels. But above all, it concerns the survival of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija. This is not the first time Kurti has sought to undermine the dialogue with unilateral actions. It has happened many times before. But this latest anti-Serb approach by Kurti clearly shows that he does not want the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities or to reach agreements on the issue of the missing," Petkovic explained.
He reminded that the Pristina Prosecutor's Office had announced yesterday that it had not issued any orders for the unlawful actions of the Kosovo Police.
"This clearly shows that the Kosovo Police operates under the political directives of Albin Kurti," Petkovic emphasized.
Commenting on the criticism of yesterday's Kosovo Police actions from Brussels and Washington, Petkovic said he had spoken with Matti Maasikas, Director-General at the EU External Action Service, and with Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations.
"They clearly condemned Albin Kurti's actions. I told them that while the EU has repeatedly condemned such moves, more is needed because Kurti is shutting down Serbian institutions and altering the political situation on the ground. However, we can see progress in the EU's statement, as it lacks the infamous and irritating phrase about equal blame on both sides. In this case, it is clear that the blame lies solely with Pristina," Petkovic specified.
As he assessed, the actions against Serbian institutions reflected Kurti's great nervousness, as he seeks to exploit the vacuum created during the transition of the US administration to launch additional attacks on Serbs.
"This approach shows Kurti's powerlessness as he targets institutions providing public services, social institutions, and unarmed people. This cannot last forever and shows that he has no real policy, instead using the Serbian people as a tool for his campaign in the worst possible way," Petkovic said.
He noted that Serbia's commitment to its people in Kosovo is also reflected in the fact that the Office for Kosovo and Metohija has the largest budget in its 25-year history.
"The Office for Kosovo and Metohija has the largest budget in its history this year, which clearly demonstrates Serbia’s commitment to its people in Kosovo and Metohija, our efforts to preserve peace, build the future, and seek a compromise solution through dialogue. Compromise is not a bad word. If agreements can be reached in the Middle East, why can't we find one?" Petkovic asked.
He emphasized that yesterday's actions by the Kosovo Police further underscored the critical importance of unity among Serbs in Kosovo.
"We must be united. It is crucial that the Serb List wins because it represents the legitimate voice of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija. By securing a victory for the Serb List, we are fighting against Albin Kurti’s institutional and other forms of violence and terror in Kosovo and Metohija," Petkovic concluded.
