Petkovic: Kurti sent the police to the municipality of Zubin Potok; intends to take over four Serbian municipalities through violence
The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, announced that Albin Kurti today had sent the police with rifles to the premises of the municipality of Zubin Potok in the north of Kosovo and Metohija "to forcefully try to prepare the ground for the holding of his illegal elections".
"This is about the most brutal demonstration of force and causing new tensions and provocations on the part of Pristina, which is trying to implement its illegal and unilateral measures with violence and to cause a new destabilization of the situation on the ground," Petkovic said.
As he assessed, Kurti had planned and directed this while the EU-Western Balkan Summit was being held in Tirana, just as he had called for the collapse of the Brussels Agreement and the arrest of Nenad Djuric during the summit in Berlin.
"This is what Albin Kurti's so-called democracy and the rule of law look like - while he forbids the Serbs to participate in elections and referendums, at the same time he is trying to hold elections in the north of the province with rifles, guns, and violence. It is obvious that Kurti intends to take over four Serbian municipalities with violence and weapons in the north of Kosovo and Metohija and to appoint Albanian representatives through an illegal and illegitimate election," Petkovic said.
He called on the Serbs to remain calm and not fall for provocations.
"Their only goal is to cause conflict and crisis in the north of Kosovo and Metohija because all our people want is respect of the rights and agreements, the right to stay and survive on their centuries-old hearths," Petkovic said.
