A state of siege in Tirana: The police blocked the center, the protesters want to force their way through cordons
Extensive security measures have been taken in Tirana since this morning, on the occasion of the EU and Western Balkans Leaders' Summit, Kosovo Online's correspondent reports from Albania.
Helicopters monitor the city all morning, and the movement of vehicles and the passage of people are prohibited in the wider center.
In the part of the central city boulevard where the Government building is located, the supporters of Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta announced a protest at noon. Currently, it is impossible to approach the building because the police have set up a cordon and an iron fence.
Even though the Albanian police banned the holding of the protest on the main city boulevard, the opposition still did not give up on that intention.
As we unofficially learn, the demonstrators will leave the Democratic Party headquarters at 12 o'clock towards the boulevard and stop in front of the police cordon.
Sali Berisha invited his supporters, who had already started arriving from different directions of the nearby streets, to gather near the Dajti Hotel at the boulevard entrance, near the police cordon.
In front of the headquarters of the Democratic Party, where its leader Sali Berisha was expected to arrive around 11:30, there was also a large number of foreign and domestic journalists and TV crews reporting on this event.
