Petkovic: Kurti's Special Forces stopped the employees of "Post of Serbia" who were transporting money for regular payments

Members of the Kosovo Police, at the checkpoint near the Bistrica Bridge, had stopped and detained the driver and two employees of the Post of Serba, who had been transporting money from the Treasury in Leposavic to Kosovska Mitrovica, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced.

"Members of Kurti's Special Police today stopped and detained at the infamous checkpoint on Bistrica Bridge a driver and two employees of the Post of Serbia who regularly transported money from the Treasury in Leposavic to Kosovska Mitrovica. They, together with the money intended for regular financial payments, were escorted to the customs terminal in southern Kosovska Mitrovica, and with them are also our representatives on the ground," the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said.

He assessed that this desperate move represented Kurti's revenge on the Serbs after the debacle he had experienced in the elections and was a new attempt to raise tensions in the north of Kosovo, directed by Pristina.

"This is a continuation of the constant political and administrative obstacles that Pristina sets up, which aim to make payment transactions in the north of Kosovo and Metohija more difficult, even though they have absolutely no right to do so. The Serbs have every legal, legitimate, and lawful right to use their money and that is not in question," Petkovic said.

He pointed out that the freedom of unhindered payment transactions was guaranteed by the agreements in Brussels and only after the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities; the CSM would take over that responsibility.

"I immediately directly informed Miroslav Lajcak, as well as the US, about this dangerous move by Pristina and Kurti, and we expect their diplomatic activity in order to calm the tensions that Pristina is producing," Petkovic said.

He added that this move had been carefully calculated before the continuation of the Brussels dialogue and showed that Kurti did not want any normalization of relations or the formation of the CSM.
