Petkovic with Lajcak: Discussion about tensions raised by Kurti in municipalities in the north
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija of the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, announced that he had met today with the EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, with whom he had discussed the upcoming round of dialogue in Brussels as well as the political and security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, with a particular focus on tensions raised by Albin Kurti in four municipalities in the north.
Petkovic wrote on Instagram that he had expressed concern about the daily institutional and other forms of violence committed against the Serbian population by the regime in Pristina, as well as the unreasonable and unilateral actions of Albanian politicians that threaten peace.
"Especially in light of the attempts to forcibly take over municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the unlawful expropriation and seizure of Serbian land and the unilateral dissolution of the Management Team for the CSM," Petkovic wrote.
As he stated, Belgrade neither wants nor takes actions that could lead to tensions and new crises on the ground but will continue to preserve peace and stability as the greatest values.
"The sole responsibility for causing crises lies with Pristina. Despite all the challenges, we will protect our people in Kosovo and Metohija," Petkovic concluded.
