Petkovic: Lajcak is relocating the bridge agreement from the dialogue; violation of principles has gone too far

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, questioned what has changed in the stance of the EU's Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, regarding the bridge over the Ibar River from August until today. He reminded that the EU had previously stated that the opening of the bridge could only be resolved through dialogue, and yet today we heard from Lajcak that this issue depends solely on an agreement between Pristina and the international community.

Via the "X" platform, Petkovic asked why Lajcak is now relocating the bridge agreement from the dialogue, pointing out that until recently, he was announcing that issue as the main topic of the Brussels discussions.

"What has changed in Lajcak's position on the bridge since August? They had said that the opening of the bridge could only be resolved in the dialogue, which is shown by Lajcak’s tweet. Today, we hear from him that this issue depends only on an agreement between Pristina and the international community," Petkovic stated.

Petkovic emphasizes that such a violation of principles has gone too far.

"Serbs, vitally interested in the status of the Ibar Bridge, and Belgrade as a party in negotiations are unilaterally excluded, while Pristina and the Quint are included to discuss the bridge. Such violation of principles has gone too far. And then you ask why there is no progress in the dialogue," Petkovic concluded.
