The director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said that Albin Kurti's threats and call for the liquidation of the Serbs, at the barricades, were terrifying and as he said he was clearly losing his temper in front of the democratic and peaceful response of the Serbs. At the same time, Petkovic had called on the international community to react, the Office announced.

"When we know what he was prepared for in the previous period in order to escalate the situation on the ground, we take such threats very seriously," Petkovic said reacting to Kurti's statement to the British Guardian that removing the barricades would not exclude victims.

"The international community must urgently react to the ominous announcements made by Kurti to professors, doctors, children, students, single mothers, and workers who defend their freedom and human rights, day and night, at the barricades; their right to stay and survive in these areas," Pekovic said.

Now, he adds, it is crystal clear that his illegal deployment of rifles and Special Forces, armed to the teeth, in the north of Kosovo and Metohija does not aim at any "peace mission" but is a direct threat to the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.

"The nervousness of Pristina is obvious because it fails to provoke an excessive reaction of the Serbs at the barricades and in its futile and failed attempt to criminalize the Serbs in the north of Kosovo and Metohija - it is now calling for their liquidation. Once more the request for the return of our security forces to Kosovo and Metohija seems the right decision, and let Kurti be convinced - Belgrade will never allow him to turn his threats into action," Petkovic said.
