Petkovic: A victory for the Serb List a barrier to Kurti’s terror, it is important to win all ten mandates

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic stated that the elections in Kosovo on December 28 are very important for the survival of the Serbian people in Kosovo, which is why it is of crucial importance for the Serb List to win and secure all ten guaranteed seats in the Pristina parliament.

“A victory for the Serb List is a barrier to Kurti’s terror and his anti-Serb policy,” Petkovic said while appearing on RTS’s Morning News.

He said it is important to see whom Kurti supports, after which it becomes clear who is working against Serbian interests.

“On the other hand, when you see whom Kurti attacks, it is clear who is fighting for the interests of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija. That is why President Aleksandar Vucic and the Serb List are Kurti’s main targets. Vucic cares about the interests of every Serb in Kosovo and Metohija and fights for Serbian national interests. At the same time, when Kurti supports Rasic and the blockers in central Serbia, it is clear that they are directly working to weaken Serbia. There is nothing Kurti has not done to the Serb List in an attempt to ban it, we could write a book about it, but despite everything, the Serb List has managed to survive, further strengthen itself, and take part in these elections. This is the third election cycle in less than a year,” emphasized the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

He added that this shows that there has been a serious political crisis in Kosovo since February, which, in his assessment, is why Kurti is nervous.

“For him, these elections are a matter of political life or death. It is important that all Serbs turn out in these elections and heed the call of President Aleksandar Vucic to vote for the Serb List, because it is the only one fighting for Serbian interests,” Petkovic said.

He reiterated that in the local elections the Serb List won convincingly and secured ten municipalities in Kosovo.

“It managed to win four municipalities in the north and confirm victory in six municipalities south of the Ibar River. We finally saw the backs of Kurti’s gauleiters in four municipalities in the north. Now it is important to win all ten mandates in the Pristina parliament, because only in that way will we succeed in preventing all processes that could be negative for Serbs. That is why Kurti did everything to seize that one mandate from the Serbs and hand it over to Rasic, for whom Albanians voted. When the Serb List has all ten mandates in the Pristina parliament, things are completely different,” he said.

He added that for Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the Kosovo issue is not a topic to be used for political bargaining.

“It is important to say that the Serb List and our Serbian unity are proof that, despite Kurti’s terror, the closure of Serbian institutions, the arrests of Serbs, intimidation of Serbs, and the militarization of the north, Kurti has not managed to break the backbone of the Serbian people. Serbs have stood up and shown unity,” emphasized the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

Petkovic reiterated that it is very important for all internally displaced persons who have Kosovo documents to go to Kosovo and vote for the Serb List by circling number 127.

“Every vote is important. We must not allow Rasic or anyone else to represent the Serbian people. The only legitimate representative is the Serb List. If Albanians from the diaspora could come to Kosovo and Metohija to vote, it is just as important that all Serbs now go to Kosovo and Metohija from central Serbia,” Petkovic emphasized.

Asked to comment on the fact that Sladjan Nikolcevic and Gordana Mihajlovic left Nenad Rasic’s party, Petkovic said this is very significant.

“They showed the true face of Nenad Rasic’s party. That party directly contributes to divisions within Serbian society in Kosovo and Metohija. When such people, who are high-ranking party members, come out and say that the only real policy fighting for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija is the policy of Aleksandar Vucic, that is an important thing. I am satisfied when every Serb moves toward Serbian unity, because we do not have the luxury of being divided in Kosovo and Metohija,” he emphasized.

He reiterated that if the Serb List wins all ten mandates in the Pristina parliament reserved for Serbs, this means that legitimate representatives of the Serbian people will be able to fight for Serbian interests, as those seats are intended for Serbs.

“What happened after the elections in February? More than 500 Albanians voted for Rasic in areas from which Serbs were ethnically cleansed during the war – in Kacanik, Podujevo, and Djakovica – and in that way Kurti enabled Rasic to obtain one mandate. And how can he represent the legitimate interests of Serbs when Albanians voted for him? He will be guided by the interests of Albanians. That is why it is important for the Serb List to win all ten mandates, for all Serbs and internally displaced persons to vote for the Serb List, so that only Serbs decide on their own interests. The Serb List is tied to Belgrade by an umbilical cord, it sees Belgrade exclusively as its capital and President Vucic as its president,” Petkovic concluded.
