Petkovic: What rights of Serbs is Kurti talking about when he persecutes them and shuts down Serbian Institutions
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, responded today to the statement by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who claimed that Pristina is working to integrate Serbs in accordance with the Brussels Agreement. Petkovic questioned what rights Kurti is referring to, given that Pristina has refused for 12 years to establish the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities (ASM), while Kurti persecutes Serbs and closes down Serbian institutions.
Petkovic posted on the social media platform X:
“What rights of Serbs is Kurti talking about, when for 12 years Pristina has refused to establish the ASM, and he is actively persecuting Serbs and shutting down Serbian institutions! Since Kurti came to power, nearly 700 incidents against the Serbian people have been recorded. Is this how Kurti ‘implements’ agreements — by openly violating them?”
Earlier today, Kurti stated, following his meeting with the EU Special Representative for Dialogue, Peter Sørensen, that they discussed the situation of the Serbian community in Kosovo. Kurti claimed that Serbs in Kosovo must not forget the rights guaranteed to them by the Constitution and insisted that everything is being done to promote their integration.
