Pristina criticizes the EU: Unfair punitive measures for Kosovo; No objections to Serbia

Kosovo Government spokesman Perparim Kryeziu told Dukagjini that the EU's punitive measures for Kosovo were unfair because it did not take steps to calm tensions in the north, stating that the Union had not sent any objection to Serbia.

"It is difficult to justify how the European Union takes negative measures towards Kosovo, which in the latest report it describes in the most positive light ever, both in the fight against crime and corruption, as well as in democratization, in economic development, as well as in the improvement of the legal framework in accordance with the EU acquis", Kryeziu said.

He referred to Prime Minister Albin Kurti's five-point proposal to de-escalate the situation and pointed out that this would preserve the principle of the rule of law and pave the way for new elections.

The Government of Kosovo criticizes the EU for not openly and decisively reprimanding Serbia for the escalation on the ground.

"The situation escalated when criminal groups and illegal and parallel formations attacked the Kosovo Police, KFOR and journalists reporting from the field. Well, there are still no open and unequivocal remarks about Serbia. Despite everything, we appreciate the support and assistance of the EU and look forward to the path to membership", he said.

Punitive measures, as a warning, that the EU specified last night for Kosovo refer to the suspension of work on the Stabilization and Association Agreement, as well as financing through EU programs, no approvals of Investment Fund projects in the Western Balkans, as well as the suspension of meetings at political levels.
