Radakovic: In the case of MTS shutdown, Serbs in the north will be left in a media blackout
Dusan Radakovic from the Center for Advocacy of Democratic Culture, regarding the decision of the Pristina authorities to invalidate the registration certificate of the company MTS D.O.O., emphasizes that if internet and cable providers cease to function, Serbs in northern Kosovo will be left in a media blackout, as reported by RTS.
As Radakovic stated, the citizens in the north will not have any other alternative, as everyone uses the MTS network.
He mentioned that it represented a form of pressure on the Serbs in Kosovo and an attempt to completely undermine the Brussels Agreement.
"We know that 99.9 percent of people use MTS, and they will not have an alternative for mobile communication, internet, or television. I'm afraid this is an attempt to completely destroy the Brussels Agreement. Another important fact is that Kosovo received the prefix 383 through this agreement. So, whether this will also have an impact, now that MTS D.O.O. is being shut down, it's definitely a significant political pressure on the Serbs," Radakovic added.
Radakovic expressed hope that an alternative would be found.
"There will certainly be a significant problem; there's great repression on the Serbian population if MTS is shut down," Radakovic warned.
