Radovic: Signing of the petition for the removal of the mayor of Leposavic completed; the required number of signatures exceeded
In Leposavic, the collection of signatures for initiating a petition for the removal of the mayor was completed at 1:00 PM, a lawyer and one of the initiators, Veselin Radovic, confirmed to Kosovo Online. He added that the number of signatures had exceeded the required 20 percent of registered voters in that municipality.
"We are just finishing the petition signing, we have a sufficient number, and I expect there will be even more signatures, so on this occasion, I thank the citizens of Leposavic for their turnout", Radovic said.
He emphasized that the exact number of signatures would be known on Monday, and everything had proceeded smoothly.
"By Monday, we will have all the accurate results and conclude with the petition. There were no incidents or irregularities, so everything went smoothly", Radovic said.
According to the data provided by the Central Election Commission to the petition initiators, there are 13,441 voters registered in the electoral roll in the municipality of Leposavic. To initiate the petition, it is necessary to have the signatures of 20 percent, or 2,689 voters.
The collection of signatures began on January 17th in Leposavic, on the square in front of the municipality building, and due to the cold weather, a tent was set up.
The petition signing for the removal of the mayors has been completed in North Mitrovica and Leposavic, while the signature collection is still ongoing in Zvecan and Zubin Potok.
