Rakic: We informed President Vucic about the difficult situation of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija

Representatives of Serbs in Kosovo met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic today, and as stated by Goran Rakic, the leader of the Serb List, they informed Vucic about the difficult situation faced by Serbs both south and north of the Ibar River.

"When I say a difficult situation, I mean our people south of the Ibar River too, and the situation is particularly exacerbated since the incursion of ROSU forces in the north. We informed the president about the situation in each municipality and presented him with videos clearly showing that our two detained fellow citizens did not participate in any riots or endanger anyone. They simply offered passive resistance and are only guilty of being Serbs," Rakic said.

The leader of the Serb List stated that they had asked the Serbian President and the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija to exert their authority with international representatives in order to secure the release of the detainees as soon as possible.

"We also requested the President to stop the persecution of the Serbian people by special forces sent by the Pristina authorities, and we reiterated our demands, previously expressed to Lajcak and Escobar, to promptly establish the CSM and adopt its statute by Pristina, Belgrade, and the EU," Rakic stated.

Milovic: We informed the president that we would continue the peaceful protests

The mayor of the municipality of Zvecan, Dragisa Milovic, stated that today marked the 17th day of our citizens persisting in their legitimate struggle for their human rights.

"They cannot go to work, and children cannot go to school. We advocate for de-escalation; it is only necessary to fulfill what has been agreed upon. Our citizens need to return and provide their services. There is not a single worker from our municipality in Zvecan. It is crucial to free our fellow citizens, Obrenovic and Petrovic, and to put an end to terror and intimidation," Milovic said, adding:

"We informed the President that we are continuing our peaceful civic and democratic protests. Today is the 17th day, and regardless of rain or sunshine, our citizens persist 24 hours a day in their legitimate and lawful struggle for their basic human rights. For 17 days now, the citizens, or rather the employees of our local self-governments, cannot go to their workplaces, and our children's schools are still fenced off with barbed wire," Milovic concluded.
