Rapajic: Changing the dialogue format would not be a good solution
The program director of the NGO Center for Advocacy of Democratic Culture from North Mitrovica, Aleksandar Rapajic, told Kosovo Online that in the Belgrade–Pristina dialogue the problem is not the format in which it takes place, but the absence of willingness to resolve anything.
At the recently held conference in Belgrade, "Towards an Agreement", where key issues of the dialogue process were discussed, Naim Rashiti from the Balkans Policy Research Group said that if Pristina and Belgrade had negotiating delegations, as was the case during the Vienna negotiations, it would represent a positive change in the dialogue.
Rapajic, however, believes that the problem with the dialogue is not related to the composition of the delegations.
"I think the problem is that there is no willingness to resolve anything. We have seen that this format of dialogue achieved results in earlier years and that those results were positive, which means that the problem is not the format, but the current lack of willingness. It is mostly absent in Pristina, although Belgrade is also not particularly interested in making any concessions at this moment. Changing the format or entering a new process is not a good solution at this time," Rapajic concludes.
