The President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, stated after the meeting with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, that Athens' position regarding Kosovo remains stable and unchanging.

"Greece's position remains unchanged. My country consistently implements constructive policies in order to ensure peace and stability in the entire area of the Balkans. We welcome the progress in relations achieved in Brussels and Ohrid, especially the implementation annex. Greece is ready to help," the Greek president said.

When asked by a journalist whether Greece, in the context of the war in Ukraine, is exposed to pressure from the West to change its position, she replied that there was always pressure for Greece to change its position on the non-recognition of Kosovo, but that it had not affected her country.

Regarding the European integration of Serbia, Sakellaropoulou reminded that the implementation of the annex from Ohrid was connected to Serbia's European path.

"Thus, the implementation of Kosovo's obligations from the annex will contribute to the overall efforts to ensure the region's peace and stability," the Greek president said.

The president of Greece pointed out that the strategic nature of the relationship was reflected in the joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership in energy, tourism, culture, and defense.

"The desire is to speed up the implementation of this declaration in the interest of our countries, but also of the entire Balkans," she said.

She pointed out that the unjustified Russian invasion of Ukraine had shown that we must all fight for peace based on UN principles.

"The drive to expand territories is unacceptable and has no place in Europe in the 21st century," Sakellaropoulou stated.

She pointed out that Greece had always thought that Serbia belonged to the European family.

"Therefore, I emphasized Greece's firm position on the need for Serbia to join the EU and the efforts your country is making on that path. We support a solution that will provide stability to the entire Balkan region and give impetus to its development. We support the recent talks about finding a solution and carrying out the implementation plan," the president stated.
