Savic: EU measures yield no results, Serbs suffer due to Kurti's unpredictability

Zoran Savic, an associate of the NGO Aktiv, stated that the latest unilateral actions by Pristina show that the EU’s measures against Kosovo are not producing results, and therefore unpredictable moves from Albin Kurti can be expected in the future, moves that the Serbian community continues to suffer from.
“It is clear that the measures the EU imposed on Kosovo are ineffective. The outgoing government continues to shut down all Serbian institutions without any kind of ‘backup,’ and in the end, the population suffers the most. Once again, they will have to seek all the services they had from central Serbia,” Savic told Kosovo Online.
He added that it remains speculative whether the new European administration will bring changes on the ground or lead to a return to dialogue.
“The only thing left for us is to see whether this new European lineup, with Kaja Kallas and Sorensen as mediators in the dialogue, will bring any progress toward getting both sides back to the negotiating table. All we can do is wait,” Savic emphasized.
He warned that during his last term, Albin Kurti demonstrated that he is “unpredictable,” and that the lack of a stronger response from the international community means the Serbian community in Kosovo can “expect anything” in the future.
“As we have seen over the past four or five years, Kurti is truly unpredictable. Just last week, three or four institutions were closed in a single day, so everything remains uncertain. But considering the lack of a stronger reaction from the international community, both the EU and embassies in Pristina, we really can expect anything,” Savic stressed.
