The Serb List expressed concern over an incident in the village of Vuca near Leposavic, where, they stated, members of the Kosovo Police, during the identification of Serbian youths, staged an outright manhunt against them, using firearms without any legal basis.

The Serb List said that an urgent and independent investigation is needed in this case.

“We demand the most urgent independent investigation with the involvement of international representatives and the punishment of those responsible. Today in Vuca, the police acted worse than if there were a state of war, seriously endangering the lives and safety of citizens,” the Serb List said in a statement.

It added that this is not the first case of unjustified use of firearms against Serbs in Kosovo, and that by sheer luck there were no casualties this time.

“Such conduct represents a flagrant violation of human rights and professional standards, while through his statements and policies, Albin Kurti’s regime directly encourages the unprofessional and violent actions of police structures,” the statement continued.

Representatives of the Serb List in Leposavic are in contact with the families of the young men and will provide them with full legal assistance and support, the party emphasized.

“We call on the international community to react, protect the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, and prevent such incidents from recurring,” the Serb List concluded.
