In Vuca near Leposavic, Kosovo Police fired shots during ID check of Serbs

An incident occurred today in the village of Vuca near Leposavic in which the police detained one young man of Serbian nationality, while another fled but later reported to the police station, Kosovo Online has learned.

According to local residents, a group of six young men, around twenty years old, was on an outing near the village. When they ran out of supplies, two of them drove to nearby shops in Socanica. On the way, they were stopped by a police patrol near the village. Alongside the stationed Kosovo Police patrol, there was also a KFOR patrol.

According to acquaintances of one of the young men, members of the Kosovo Police attempted to check their IDs and seize their mobile phones. Fearing for his safety, one of the young men ran into the forest. At that moment, witnesses claim, police officers fired shots from an automatic rifle toward the forest. This evening, accompanied by his family and lawyer, he went to the police to give a statement, our portal has learned.

The other young man, according to our information, had also previously given a statement at the police station, confirmed the incident, and was soon released.

The Kosovo Police told Kosovo Online that officers had stopped a vehicle, and when they attempted to verify the identities of those present, one fled into the forest.

So far, there has been no official statement from the Kosovo Police regarding this incident.
