Serb List: The Practice of groundless arrests of Serbs in Kosovo must end

On the occasion of the latest arrests of Serbs in Lipljan, the Serb List stated that the regime in Pristina is unable to come to terms with its defeats in the Assembly of Kosovo and is concluding its four-year mandate in the same manner—routinely detaining Serbs for the most serious criminal offenses without any evidence, in plain sight of all international representatives.
According to the Serb List, what makes the situation even worse is that the arrests are being carried out during the Easter period, further intimidating the Serbian population.
“It is obvious that Albin Kurti cannot accept his defeats in the Assembly in Pristina, so he is diverting attention from his own problems and his inability to have his candidate for Assembly President approved by terrorizing the Serbian people,” the Serb List stated.
They emphasize that the practice of baseless arrests of Serbs in Kosovo must come to an end, and place the greatest responsibility for this on the representatives of the international community—from EULEX, to the Quint embassies, UNMIK, and others—who, as they add, have never released information on cases in which, mysteriously, witnesses emerge after two decades claiming knowledge today that they allegedly didn’t have all these years.
“The Serb List will, in all meetings with international representatives, insist on the strict observance of the presumption of innocence and the rule of law, rather than the rule of force as established by Kurti’s regime,” the statement concludes.
