The Serb List: Today's arrest in Leposavic is a message to the Serbs that they have no right to protest

Today's arrest of Nebojsa Virijevic in Leposavic was a clear message to all the Serbs that they had no right to protest and express their political views, the Serb List announced.

"We strongly condemn the groundless arrest and detention of Nebojsa Virijevic, which aims to intimidate the citizens of Leposavic so that they stop democratically protesting for more than two months, demanding that the illegal mayors and Kurti's Special Forces leave the municipal building, which they entered by force and without any ground they prevent the citizens to exercise their rights. Today's arrest is an obvious message to all the Serbs that they do not have the right to protest and express a political position, what's more, it is denied to the Serbs by Kurti's regime, which came to power after dozens of more than violent protests," the statement said.

With regret, the Serb List notes that "the same Kurti police are never so zealous towards those who attack the Serbs and threaten to expel them, both in the north and in the south of Kosovo".

"To make matters worse, Virijevic, as an innocent man, is in custody today instead of with his children, and based on the report of Kurti's henchman Radoijca Radomirovic, who is one of the few Serbs who are obedient to Albin Kurti's regime, and whom the Serbs look down on, and forgives them because they don't know what they are doing, but doesn't forget," the Serb List points out.

If there was justice and evidence, it added, Radojica Radomirovic would be in custody, because his past is full of criminal acts, among other things, for sending threats to the citizen of Leposavic and her minor children.

This unfounded arrest, the Serb List points out, is not a path to de-escalation, but an additional escalation.

"We demand that Virijevic, who is a family man and someone respected by everyone in Leposavic, be released immediately because he has not committed any crime or misdemeanor.

At the same time, we call on the international community to stop being silent about the terror that the Serbs are suffering, and the citizens of Leposavic to be united and unified because the state of Serbia is with the Serbs," the announcement of the Serb List stated.
