Serbs in northern Kosovo 11 days at the barricades

The night at the barricades in northern Kosovo passed peacefully, and today is the 11th day that roadblocks were set up in the municipalities of Zvecan, Zubin Potok, and Leposavic as a sign of protest against the arrest of Serbs.

The Serbs say that they will not give up and that the barricades will be removed when Miljan Adzic, Dejan Pantic, and Sladjan Trajkovic are released, but also when the Kosovo Police Special Forces withdraw from the north of Kosovo.

They hope for a solution that will lead to reducing of tensions in Kosovo.

The Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that it was necessary to give more time to remove the barricades, but that he was afraid that it would not happen without casualties.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director Petar Petkovic said that the barricades meant freedom for Serbs and represented their peaceful resistance to "the lawlessness of Albin Kurti and his Greater Albania extremists, whose only goal is ethnically pure Kosovo."

Organizations that deal with human rights are concerned about the former Kosovo Police officer Dejan Pantic and the situation in which he is.

The Kosovo police announced that the Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings remained closed.
