Shahini: I don’t see the funds from the Growth Plan arriving in Kosovo anytime soon
The funds from the European Union’s Growth Plan for the Western Balkans intended for Kosovo, nearly one billion euros, will most likely continue to wait until we find a way to access them. However, given the current political developments in Kosovo and the situation within the EU, I don’t see that money coming to Kosovo anytime soon, Agim Shahini, President of the Kosovo Business Alliance, says for Kosovo Online.
According to Shahini, the current government of Kosovo does not have the necessary capacity to secure the funds from the Growth Plan.
“A new government is needed as soon as possible so that we can create a strategy for how to access the funds already allocated for Kosovo, which are intended for development, integration, and administrative reform. If the current situation continues, it’s likely that by next year Kosovo will not be in a position to change anything in its stance toward the European Union or the United States, so for now, Kosovo is in a poor position,” Shahini assesses.
He recalls that the Growth Plan has allocated several billion euros for development and growth across the Western Balkans and says that this money is very important for all countries, as these funds and investments will help states attract additional financial resources.
