Simic: Pristina's campaign against MTS is part of a broader plan, Kurti aims to deprive Serbs of normal life

Igor Simic, Vice President of the Serb List, stated that the campaign led by authorities in Pristina against MTS and Telekom Srbija was part of a wider plan and that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti intended to obstruct the normal life of Serbs in Kosovo.

"Imagine not having TV channels in the Serbian language in the 21st century, not having access to the internet, not being able to communicate normally; this would mean absolute media and informational blackout for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. On the other hand, this shows that the regime of Albin Kurti is committed to the degradation of everything established as a result of the Brussels agreements. Everything that contributes to the life of Serbs in Kosovo, Kurti wants to eliminate and prevent. Each decision is not political or administrative; it's a direct attack on Serbs and is aimed at our survival in this region," Simic conveyed during his appearance on the Morning News on RTS.

Simic emphasized that Erden Atic's, the Mayor of North Mitrovica, decision to remove structures from public areas in the city should be viewed in the same light. Simic indicated that this decision was contrary to the interests of the Serbian people.

"This decision is just one in a series aimed against our citizens, particularly our business people and service providers. Anyone who has been to North Mitrovica knows that hundreds of Serbian families here earn their living through service businesses for the citizens. This decision aims to hinder the normal operation of shops, cafes, and restaurants. This is another pressure tactic to escalate the situation on the ground with the goal of disciplining the remaining Serbs in northern Kosovo who want to live in peace," Simic said.

He added that the Serb List had called on the international community to use its authority and noted that it was not the first "contentious decision from an illegal mayor."

"He wanted to open a bridge, but the international community intervened, and the decision wasn't executed. In this context, the Serb List demanded an end to unilateral actions and activities aimed at harassing Serbs and expelling them from this region. We are still waiting for the decision from international representatives," Simic stated.

Simic further stated that elections in northern Kosovo were not a magical solution for the current situation.

"Only those who superficially view the situation in northern Kosovo might believe that elections are some magical solution to solve all problems. Even when we had Serbian mayors and police officers within the Kosovo system, we were under strong pressure from Albin Kurti. New elections won't remove the illegal special units operating in northern Kosovo. New elections are not a magical solution for judicial problems where Serbs can't secure basic property rights," Simic pointed out.

Simic believes that the only solution for the situation in Kosovo is "respecting the agreements signed in Brussels and the establishment of the CSM as the overarching institution for the Serbian people."

He stresses that the decision to leave Kosovo institutions was the only possible reaction from Serbian citizens to make their suffering visible to the world and international representatives.

Simic also assessed that Kurti's recent visit to Tetovo was part of the execution of his plan for a "Greater Albania."

"What we witnessed in North Macedonia is the execution of the 'Greater Albania' plan he dreams of and has written about. Unfortunately, this didn't surprise us, but the silence of international institutions did. Creating a 'Greater Albania' poses a threat to peace in this region and endangers all citizens, not just Serbs. We see this happening in North Macedonia, and we know very well what his actions were like concerning Albania and even Montenegro, where he directly interfered in internal affairs and tried to blame President Vucic and Serbia for it," Simic concluded.
