Spahiu: The flag was placed by the grandson of Isa Boletini; more important than the independence of Kosovo
Commenting on the installation of the Kosovo flag on the North Mitrovica Municipality building, Kosovo analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu says that the flag was hanged by Avni Peci, the great-grandson of Isa Boletini and that its installation is more important than the independence of Kosovo, Demokracia reports.
Spahiu said this to Kanal 10, adding that the act of placing the Kosovo flag was very important, even more important than the independence of Kosovo.
On the other hand, Spahiu criticized some of the mayors of municipalities in the south of Kosovo who had put up flags of other countries.
Isa Boletini was born in 1864 in the village of Boletin, near Zvecani, as Isa Shala. He was one of the leaders of the Kachaks and the Albanian Uprising of 1910.
Albanians see in him the main figure and fighter for liberation from the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Serbia and the Kingdom of Montenegro.
The Serbs remember him for numerous crimes and the expulsion of the Serbian population from Ibarski Kolasin after 1901, which included murders, rapes, and robberies.
