Spahiu: New elections would suit no one; Low chances that Kurti will fail to form a Government

Political analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu believes it is not in Self-Determination’s interest to fail in forming a government and for new elections to be called simultaneously with the upcoming local ones, as the party would not win more votes than it did in the February 9 elections.

In his view, holding new parliamentary elections at the same time as local elections would not benefit anyone.

“Most MPs elected in this round have no guarantee of being re-elected if elections are held again, and people primarily defend their personal interests, then party interests, and only then national ones,” Spahiu said.

He believes the chances of Albin Kurti failing to form a government are very slim.

Although the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) claims it could quickly form a coalition if Self-Determination fails, Spahiu argues that this is not realistic, as the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) is not interested in forming a coalition with either Self-Determination or the PDK.

Meanwhile, Arton Demhasaj from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) accused Self-Determination of deliberately delaying the process of forming new institutions, aiming to trigger extraordinary parliamentary elections in the fall that would coincide with the local ones.
