Three US officials, Derek Chollet, Gabriel Escobar, and Spencer Boyer, would arrive in Belgrade tomorrow, and it would be an opportunity to continue intensifying and improving the relations between the two countries, State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense Nemanja Starovic said today, adding that the indispensable topic would be political and security situation in Kosovo, RTV reports.

"Tomorrow US special envoy Escobar and Derek Chollet, a very important figure, one of only a few people in the foreign policy establishment appointed directly by US President Joseph Biden, a very close associate of Secretary of State Antony Blinken, are coming to Belgrade. They are all coming together, as well as Spencer Boyer, a special envoy in charge of the Western Balkans at the Pentagon," Starovic told Tanjug.

Starovic said this in response to a question about how he saw the additional involvement of the White House and the arrival of the senior adviser of the State Department, Derek Chollet.

"We believe, we want to believe, that despite the big difference in the approach to the status issue of Kosovo and Metohija between Washington and Belgrade, there is something that unites us so that there is no escalation and the use of weapons, I believe that we can work together with the US toward that goal," Starović said.

He assessed that the visit would be a good opportunity to continue work on intensifying and improving bilateral relations and added that the political and security situation in Kosovo would also be an indispensable topic.

"I believe that we can, at least to some extent, find a common language with our partners from Washington on that plan, to work together and to prevent an escalation in Kosovo," Starovic said.
